Passive House

Passive House, originating from the German ‘passivhaus’, is a voluntary standard for achieving exceptional energy efficiency in a building. It is a rigorous method which results in an ultra-low energy building that requires little energy for space heating or cooling, thereby reducing its ecological footprint. It is a design process which is integrated with architectural design.

Although it usually refers to new buildings, it has also been used for refurbishments. Attention to build detail and finishing is of paramount importance, something which is a ‘given’ in any Changing Spaces project. Taking our success with ICF, we are well placed to seek ‘passivhaus’ contractor accreditation.
